Embedl is heading to Visby for Almedalsveckan 2026 and looks forward to taking part in some of the most important conversations shaping Sweden’s future. Throughout the week, we will engage with policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, technology, and Sweden’s long-term competitiveness in a rapidly changing world.
As new technologies continue to transform industries and global competition intensifies, Sweden faces important opportunities and challenges. Almedalsveckan provides a unique forum for bringing together diverse perspectives and exploring how innovation can drive growth, strengthen resilience, and create new opportunities for businesses and society.
On Wednesday, June 24, Richard Savage will participate in the discussion Can Sweden Build Defense Capabilities at Startup Speed? on the TECHARENA Bright Stage at 14:20. The session will examine how Sweden can accelerate innovation within the defense sector and whether the speed, agility, and problem-solving mindset commonly found in startups can help strengthen national capabilities. The discussion comes at a time when technology is playing an increasingly important role in security, preparedness, and industrial development.
On Thursday, June 25, Richard will also serve as a jury member for the Techarena Challenge from 12:00 to 14:00. The competition highlights some of the most promising startups and entrepreneurs in the Nordic region, providing a platform for emerging companies to showcase their ideas and connect with investors, partners, and industry experts. Supporting entrepreneurship and the next generation of innovators is an important part of building a strong and competitive technology ecosystem.
Later that day, Devdatt Dubhashi, Co-founder and Chief Scientist at Embedl, will join Ny Teknik’s panel discussion, "Customers, Capital, Talent, or Regulations: What Is Really Killing Growth?"
Date: 25 June
Time: 12:45 to 13:30
Location: Södra Kyrkogatan 8, Visby
The discussion will explore one of the most pressing questions facing the Swedish startup ecosystem today: why do so few startups successfully make the journey from promising ideas to globally competitive growth companies? Participants will discuss whether the biggest barriers are access to capital during critical growth phases, challenges in attracting and retaining talent, difficulties reaching customers, or regulatory frameworks designed primarily for larger, more established organizations.
Joining the panel are:
- Devdatt Dubhashi, Co-founder and Chief Scientist, Embedl
- Julia Norinder, People & Communications, Zenseact
- Karl Bäckström, CTO and Co-founder, Eneryield
- Sara Wallin, CEO, Foundation Chalmers University of Technology
- Anna Ljungdahl, Industrifonden
The conversation will bring together perspectives from technology companies, investors, research institutions, and startup leaders, offering insights into what is needed to help more Swedish companies scale successfully on the global stage.
If you are attending Almedalen, we would be delighted to connect.
